Sunrise, facing east, through the window-screen
Mid-morning, I looked out and noticed this line snaking along, disturbing the surface of today’s new snow. While I was watching, it suddenly extended another couple of inches in the direction of the bird feeder, where a heap of seed had already been dropped by our picky goldfinches: a vole tunnel, most likely, running from one feeder to the other. Clever rodents.
Juncos also enjoy the generosity of the finches.
I was pleasantly surprised to find the trails in Glen Helen mostly free of ice, and still too cold to be muddy. So nice to be out hiking again, even if (especially if!) we do end up snowed in tomorrow.
